For Students Considering Lab Affiliation

Our laboratory investigates artificial intelligence and reinforcement learning technologies that work in the real world, centred on the control of multiple robots. If you want to explore AI technology in depth — technology that has been drawing attention worldwide — or want to apply AI to something close to your own life, we think you'll be a great fit. We especially welcome students interested in multi-agent systems and reinforcement learning.
If you're interested in other AI-related topics, feel free to consult with us — we can set a research theme based on that interest. Our laboratory also actively participates in external presentations and competitions, so depending on your results, you may get the chance to present your work as early as your fourth year.

Lab introductions and interviews with the supervising faculty for third-year undergraduates considering lab affiliation are scheduled for around October. Separate guidance will be provided, so please be sure to check it.

Research Topics

Our work spans safe route optimisation for multiple vessels, through to control of robots operating in unknown environments. See our research topics (Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning and Smart Mobility · Explainable AI for Robot Control) for details.

Lab Facilities

Students affiliated with our laboratory are provided with a computer with a GPU and a display. You'll also have access to shared equipment and amenities for research activities, along with your own access to the lab's dedicated Wi-Fi access point. Student rooms can also be used for web conferences and interviews.
Beyond that, you're free to use equipment such as 3D printers and tools for building hardware.
