Oral Presentation at the International Symposium i-SAIRAS
Research outcomes from our laboratory have been accepted for presentation at the International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Automation in Space (i-SAIRAS 2026). i-SAIRAS is a long-established international symposium on artificial intelligence and space engineering, organised mainly by space technology organisations around the world, including JAXA.
The presentation summarises our ongoing research in the laboratory on applying Distributional Reinforcement Learning to planetary exploration rovers. In particular, because Distributional Reinforcement Learning has strong expressive capability for factors such as risk, we believe it may also be effective in planetary exploration where available cues are limited. On the day, we hope to discuss its feasibility and effectiveness in particular. The details are as follows.
